Is the LG C1 better than the B2? ›

The B2 is the better choice if you need something to use in a well-lit room because it gets brighter in SDR. However, their HDR brightness is similar, and the C1 has better gradient handling, so if you watch HDR content, it's better to go for the C1.

The C1 gets brighter, but the difference isn't very noticeable. The C1 also has a wider refresh rate range because it has low frame rate compensation that allows the VRR to drop below 40Hz, which the B1 doesn't have.

The LG C2 OLED is slightly better than the LG B1 OLED overall, although the performance of the two is quite similar. The C2 is brighter, especially when watching HDR content.

The LG C2 OLED is a higher-end TV than the LG B2 OLED, so it performs better overall. They have the same SDR peak brightness, but in HDR is where the C2 stands out as it gets brighter and highlights pop more. The C2 also has better gradient handling, resulting in less distracting banding while watching HDR content.

The C1 OLED is one of the best TVs we've seen in 2021, and a very good option for a cheaper OLED in 2022.

It wowed us with its vibrant picture, smart webOS interface and high-end gaming features. Both the 48-inch and 65-inch versions achieved five stars in our tests. In short, the C1 is a consistently-brilliant OLED TV.

The LG C1 is—technically speaking—a better TV than the LG CX. It focuses more on gaming than its predecessor, as its Game Optimizer puts a bigger spotlight on the TV's various hardware and software enhancements.

It was released in March 2022, and usually there isn't much budging the retail price of top level OLED TVs like the LG C2 for at least a year. Not that we're complaining! We're seeing a steady supply of good LG C2 deals that are taking the price of the 55-inch model down by $200/£200 or so.

Now OLED TVS or even phone displays with OLED screen can suffer from burn in. Let's say you keep the TV on all the time with the same menus on the screen. After some months or years you will start to see a slight shadow where the image is burned into the display.

Ever since OLED was a research project, the lifespan of the organic material has been debated. There is no reason to worry, says LG. The latest generation of OLED TVs now has a lifespan of 100,000 hours, according to a report by Korea Times.

Rich, voluminous color across content. The LG C1 covers 100% of the Rec. 709 color gamut and 97% of the HDR color gamut (DCI-P3). Almost as impressive as the C1's contrast is its color production, which is among the best we've seen in 2021.

OLED TVs Are Susceptible to Burn-Ins

This occurs due to uneven degradation of pixels over a long period. The individual pixels that turn on to display static images on your TV degrade faster than the pixels surrounding them. This image retention is permanent, and you'll notice it the most when your screen is white.

Now in early 2023, the average RRP for the C1 sits at roughly around $1,499/£1,699 from most retailers.

LG's 2022 gallery TV flagship is the G2 OLED evo and it'll likely drop in price the closer its replacement (above) is to release. It features LG's 2022 α9 Gen5 AI processing technology, which enables higher brightness than its TVs have managed before, although not quite as much as the newer system for 2023.

LG's 2022 OLED TV lineup also welcomes new screen sizes and stylish designs to give consumers more choice. In addition to the world's first 97-inch OLED TV and a new 83-inch model, the G2 series provides 77-, 65- and 55-inch options, ensuring the right size for practically any space in the home.

In terms of picture quality the two were basically identical, despite the fact that LG touts the new "Evo" panel on the C2. The C2 adds carbon-fiber construction as well as tweaks to game mode and a new "always ready" feature, but we don't think those enhancements are worth the price difference.

For 2022 LG made some compelling design changes to the C2 OLED. The 65-inch LG C2 model is about 50% lighter than last year's LG C1 in the same size thanks to a new composite fiber material used in the chassis.

The 65-inch LG C1 was released in 2021 for $2500 but has more recently been available for $1800 and, at its previous lowest-ever price, $1650.

The C1 is almost as good as the LG G1, but it's also a better all-around package than most of the TVs we've tested, too. From its incredible performance to its future-facing features, the LG C1 is easily one of the best TVs we've ever seen.

Aside from price, the biggest difference between the two is that carbon-fiber construction on the C2. It allows for up to 47% lighter weight -- the 65-inch version I reviewed weighs just 37 pounds with its stand, compared to 72 pounds for the 65-inch C1, which is a substantial difference.

Lifespan of an OLED TV is supposedly pretty good - at least 6–8 years. I would put moderate use as 4–6 hours of TV daily, or maybe 8 max. If one is watching more, then I will say - folks please get a little more life.
